Travelling with friends, family and loved ones certainly make the trip interesting but there is something about travelling solo that excites and scares up.

Going to an unknown country or region will open you up to more experiences. Choosing the country or place of travel should be your choice alone. This is simply because you need to open u and truly enjoy what the location has to offer. Besides this of course, here are a few things to remember to do when you’re travelling solo to make sure your trip is a truly unforgettable one!

Make friends

Friendships make like these last a long time. And so, while on your journey don’t be afraid to make a few new friends. The locals will tell you place of interest that you will be able to visit and local goldmines of experience.

Do not be reluctant to ask for advice on where to go or what to do. There is a good chance that they will be able to direct you to more places where you can experience the tradition than a tour guide ever will

Know your strengths

If you enjoy the company of people, look up and ask about local tour groups or a tour guide in the area so as to learn about the area you are in. However, if you enjoy being by yourself, don’t hesitate to ask for directions from the hotel you are staying in and go find out and learn about the area you are in, by yourself.

Learn a language

Learning a language is never a bad thing. Even if it is just “yes” “no” or “how are you” make an effort to learn something new that you will be able to take back.

Document

Keep a record of the places you visited, people you met, stories you heard and things you have experienced while on your travels. These are things that you will be in no hurry to forget. Take photographs and make memories that will last you a life time.

However, do not be afraid to say no. as much as travelling alone is fun; the downside of it is that you will need to be extremely cautious. Learn how to say “No” in the language of the region and always keep a local authority’s number in hand or on speed dial. Read up on local customs and make sure you know what actions are considered offensive in the region.

Knowing thing like this ahead of time will help you to pack accordingly and be prepared.
